We have belatedly changed the title of this series because that there are a lot more haters of gold in the Imperial City than just the pedigreed liberals of the MSM, think tanks and Dem party apparatus.

After all, it was Tricky Dick Nixon who killed the last remnants of the gold standard in August 1971 and save for an aborted effort at revival early in the Reagan administration, the GOP rank-and-file legislators have never looked back.
