On Trial: Derek Chauvin Or The Nanny State?

We almost always disagree with progressives and frequently with so-called conservatives, as well. That’s because neither side consistently understands that the #1 threat to personal liberty, true social justice and reasonable prosperity for all is the inherent aggrandizing propensities of the state.

And that is true whether it involves economic growth and income distribution, law and order and social justice or foreign policy and national defense. In all three spheres, elected politicians are heavily inclined to more and more state action and intervention because it is their route to power and pelf, when less state intrusion is almost always called for.
