Now Comes The New Abnormal

Exactly 10 years ago throughout much of Flyover America there occurred a voter uprising against Big Government, as especially embodied in the new fiscal monster called Obamacare.

That became known as the Tea Party revolt. It brought the GOP back into the US House majority and gave birth the the Freedom Caucus—a rhetorically militant band of anti-government, anti-spending conservatives fresh from the hinterlands who promised to finally bring Leviathan to heel.

That was then. A decade later its long-time Chairman, former Rep. Mark Meadows, has moved to the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue where he functions as the Donald’s chief of staff. To say that he has been fiscally domesticated, if not castrated, would be an understatement.
