Lawless Madness On The Potomac, Part 2

The yawning gap between the DOL’s Jobless Thursday and Jobs Friday reports is just another reminder of the mayhem at loose on the banks of the Potomac. In this instance, the Donald and his minions are out crowing loudly about the August unemployment rate posting at “only” 8.4%, but that’s complete, unadulterated BS.

For crying out loud, on Thursday the one and same Department of Labor reported total weekly unemployment claims of 29.2 million, including 13.5 million under the regular state programs (blue area of bars) and 15.7 million newly covered gig, part-time and contract workers under the CARES act (red area). Given the labor force was reported at 160.8 million for August, that computes to a 18.2% unemployment rate, not 8.4%.
